Nobody wants to be sick on Christmas, right? That's why I took Bailey to the doctor yesterday, even if it was only a "mild" cold. "Mild" when he barked like a dog half the night? Anyway, he is doing better now thanks to the cold and allergy medicine.

Anywho, at first, we were the only ones in the sick waiting room. Then, as other kids trickled in, Bailey started hugging them all and trying to give their parents magazines to read. It was cute, but Bailey is bigger than a lot of other kids and so I worry that he will inadvertantly knock one of them over.

So, that all got me thinking, that Bailey has to have a little brother or sister, despite what the doctors say about my back. I think he will make a good big brother. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Bailey is certainly the little mimic latley. I mean, he used to cough after other people and clear his little throat, but now it is much more than that. Since Nanny is usually getting ready for work when Bailey wakes up, he has taken to combing his hair with her in the morning. And he loves to play with his phone. Whenever I say ring he answers his phone, usually with the mouthpiece nowhere near his mouth. Then, yesterday, when the phone rang he went running to the hall phone and streched and streched trying to reach the phone. He actually grunted! To top that off, he will often shake his head no when I am doing the same, trying to keep him from jumping into the Christmas tree usually.

I have been trying to teach him new words so that we can move beyond dadada and bye-bye, but to no avail. Hopefully, he will get the hang of it soon! In the meantime, he is asleep. thanks to the Benadryl I gave him because he spent most of the night barking like a dog. I hope that he isn't sick for Christmas.

Bailey really wanted to be read to today. He kept pulling toys out of his toy box until he came across a book. He would then march it right over to me, put it on my lap and gesture to be picked up. I think I read him, like seven different books today. Not that I am complaining. On the contrary, I love having him on my lap, smelling his sweet baby smell and introducing him to the world of books. I am just surprised that he has been so cuddly lately. Maybe because it has been so darn cold. We broke a record last night with -5. BRRRRRR!!!

Gosh, the Christmas rush is hard on everybody. Pure little Bailey had a meltdown in Wal-Mart and nothing would pacify him. Come to think of it, nothing would pacify him today. Maybe it is those darn shots from yesterday or maybe it is because he couldn't have Nanny's nick nacks. Whatever the case I hope this holiday rush is over soon and we can just slow down and relax. We certainly both need it.

Gosh, it sure has been a long time since I have given an update. Well, where to start? Let's see. . . Bailey went to the doctor today and got a clean bill of health. All 29 pounds 9 ounces and 33 inches of him!! His current favorite thing is to walk around the house and find things that he can carry around with him. Like tennis shoes, purses baby lotion. Nothing is safe and I mean absolutely nothing. Just the other day he threw a perfectly good, new roll of toilet paper into the toilet. Needless to say, it couldn't be saved. And I am still not 100% convinced of this, by Mom swears he stole her glasses. We spent days trying to find them. Amanda even looked in the dishwasher to no avail. So, Mom decided to get a new pair- ordered them, paid for them and then found them under the Christmas tree when she was trying to fix the lights. Hmmmm. . . .

We are going back to Japan on January 2nd and I cannot wait. I miss my husband and I am sure that Bailey misses his Daddy. Witness the way he lights up when he hears Daddy's voice on the phone. I asked the docotor today about giving Bailey some medication to help him sleep on the plane and felt totally guilty about it. But, he assured me, it is a long flight and since we didn't purchase a seat for him, helping him to sleep by using medication isn't so bad. He told me to try it out before we left because in one percent of children it causes hyperactivity. Would hate to find that out mid-flight.

I have lots of birthday pictures to post. hopefully, I will get around to it before the holidays.

Bailey as the world's cutest chicken. He went trick-or-treating in this and we will use it for new Year's cards. Posted by Hello

Bailey has this soft soccer ball that I bought him at the Dollar Tree that he likes to play with recently. Usually, he just does his best to throw it to me and waits for me to roll it back to him. Today, however, I guess that was getting boring so he decided to push the ball around the room with his head, legs straight and head to the floor. Actually, he looked like a little seal.

HJe also likes to spend time just looking at his books- turning the pages, scooting along the floor using he book as a kind of steering wheel. Today I watched him as he found the book with pictures of babies eating and food everywhere, and Bailey gently caressed the cheek of one of the little babies and then just starred. Cute!!
